Remembering Ron Wyatt

In 1977 Ron Wyatt traveled to far Eastern Turkey to investigate a possible site for the remains of Noah's Ark. Having been impressed by an article in Life Magazine years before, he searched out and discussed the site shown in the article with some of the explorers who went on that expedition. Ron felt not enough actual data had been examined due to the traditional bias for a Mount Ararat landing site. This was to be the first of years of field trips to this site and discoveries of other Biblical sites and remains proving miraculous events described in the Bible to be accurate.

Ron Wyatt passed from his earthly labors on August 4th 1999.

This author became acquainted with Ron in 1988 after seeing him on a local television show discussing the discoveries. After obtaining a phone number from the show's host I decided to call one evening for his organization's answering machine to get their hours of operation for more information. Ron answered the phone. "Hello?" Being surprised, not expecting a live person and pausing I said, I'm calling about Ron Wyatt." Ron answered, This is Ron Wyatt." After stammering a bit I told him about the show I had seen him on and about following all the information on Noah's Ark for years. Ron shared the discoveries, what the Bible actually says and answered my questions for over an hour. I was impressed with the patience and sincerity of the man. I discovered he was living in a duplex doing all his research and field work on his own time and funding. After observing the Mount Ararat ark hunters' fund raisers over the years, this was something new. Ron's integrity for the time I knew him was the thing that most impressed me. One example was when I was going to do my first presentation on Noah's Ark at a low rent housing complex, Ron sent a box of fifty "Discovered: Noah's Ark" books that he said the Lord had provided to him. Ron had signed all of them. On a trip in Oklahoma to a presentation we stopped at a restuarant to eat. He shared the discoveries and the gospel with a man on the next stool and gave him a book before leaving. I never heard him respond about any of his persecutors with other than "bless their hearts." He knew they did not have all of the information that he had. I'm afraid I don't have quite the heart Ron did. But after becoming convinced of the authenticity of these discoveries I've tried to follow that example. The privilege to know of, let alone be involved with, these proofs of God's Word is it's own blessing. I know that's what Ron believed.
