Mount Sinai and
the Split Rock in Horeb

The True Mount Sinai

The Discovery

In 1978 Ron Wyatt and his two sons dove in the Gulf of Aqaba off the shore of Nuweiba Beach observing coral encrusted chariot parts and indicated his interest in Jebel El Lawz being Mount Sinai as written about in Rene Noorbergen's 1982 book "Treasures of the Lost Races." After finding the chariot evidence in the Gulf of Aqaba, Ron knew Mount Sinai had to be in Saudi Arabia. He tried for several years unsuccessfully to get a visa to enter the country. In January 1984 Ron and his two sons entered the country without permission to make a dash to an ancient volcano that appeared to fit the Biblical narrative. The peak of Jebel El Lawz on it's rim seemed the most likely candidate. After finding evidence supporting the site, the group was arrested and jailed. An associate had called the Saudis and declared the Wyatts were Israeli spies masquerading as archaeologists. This changed their status from illegal aliens to capital criminals. After 78 days, of confirming their story and being shown evidence, the Saudis released them. The Wyatts returned home and gave witness to their discoveries in an interview with Bill Kurtis on CBS Morning News, April 17, 1984. Ron was invited back to the site in 1985 and so convinced the Saudis of the authenticity of the evidence for the Hebrews encampments around the mount that they immediately fenced off the entire area as an archaeological reserve.

Mount Sinai in Midian

Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.  (Exodus 2:15 KJV)

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. (Exodus 3:1 KJV)

"Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain." (Exodus 3:12 KJV)

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God:  (Exodus 18:5 KJV)

In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai. For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.  (Exodus 19:1,2 KJV)

And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.  (Exodus 19:18 KJV)

And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.  (Exodus 24:17 KJV)

Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
  (Gal 4:24,25 KJV)

The Split Rock at Horeb

The Discovery

At the end of 1991 the Jim and Penny Caldwell family set out to follow leading Jim felt was of the Lord to Mount Sinai. After being disappointed with the lack of evidence at Jebel Musa in the Sinai Peninsula they were drawn through a series of remarkable circumstances toward a mountain in Saudi Arabia; the country where Jim just happened to work. Following clues they discovered and others left by a previous investigator they made their way to Jebel El Lawz. From there they began to document some of the most compelling evidence ever surrounding one of the major discoveries while making groundbreaking new discoveries of their own including the rock split by Moses. They were eager to share their discoveries and contacted Ron Wyatt, the previous investigator who believed Jebel El Lawz to be Mount Sinai since finding chariot parts in the Gulf of Aqaba. Because of the dangerous situation their photographic evidence presented, while continuing to reside and investigate in Saudi on work visas, their names had to be witheld and their identities protected. What even they didn't understand was that what they had shared was just the tip of the evidentiary iceberg. Jim and Penny continued to investigate the area and gather more photographic proof. Now their story is being told and new Bible narrative confirming evidence, gained from the research and study of their documentation, is being revealed. Among their many discoveries are:

The The Split Rock at Horeb
Jebel Maqla
The Wilderness of the Wandering
The Pillars Quarry

Split Rock in Horeb

And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
(Exodus 17:1 KJV)

Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.  (Exodus 17:6 KJV)

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
 (Numbers 20:7-11 KJV)
